Oh my chicken fried!

I’m taking some time off my busy schedule to share with all of you a little country song that keeps buzzing in my head. It’s a song by Zac Brown Band called Chicken Fried.

Unbeknown to some, I am a fan of good ole American country music. I grew up to the songs of Kenny Rogers, Billy Ray Cyrus, Dolly Parton, and John Denver. I was a kid who loved stories, and country music almost always stirred my imagination and made my feet stomp.

When I heard this song, I was suddenly stomping my feet again. Oh man, I do love this silly little song🙂 Although I am not a beer drinker and I am trying my best to stay clear of fried chicken, there is a couple of stanzas in the song that I love:

“Well its funny how it`s the little things in life that mean the most, not where you live, what you drive or the price tag on your clothes. There`s no dollar sign on a piece of mind. This I`ve come to know…

We make life so complicated sometimes. We worry too much about what we don’t have instead of being happy with what we have. My son had another seizure yesterday, while he was in the toilet, and I am glad he was sitting on the john when it happened. I am once again grateful that I work at home. If I wasn’t, I wouldn’t be able to monitor my son’s attacks and I wouldn’t be there to assure him everything will be okay.

So here’s a little chicken fried to all of you! When you’re feelin a little down, count your blessings…you have more to life than what you think you know.

You know I like my chicken fried
Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I was raised up beneath the shade of a Georgia pine
And that`s home you know
Sweet tea pecan pie and homemade wine
Where the peaches grow
And my house it`s not much to talk about
But it`s filled with love that`s grown in southern ground
And a little bit of chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

Well its funny how it`s the little things in life that mean the most
Not where you live or the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes
There`s no dollar sign on a piece of mind this I`ve come to know
So if you agree have a drink with me
Raise you glasses for a toast
To a little bit of chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love

I thank god for my life
And for the stars and stripes
May freedom forever fly, let it ring.
Salute the ones who died
The ones that give their lives so we don`t have to sacrifice
All the things we love
Like our chicken fried

Cold beer on a Friday night
A pair of jeans that fit just right
And the radio up
Well I`ve seen the sunrise
See the love in my woman`s eyes
Feel the touch of a precious child
And know a mother`s love
